About Me
In 2004 I was approached in a hockey arena and asked if I would ever consider a career in mortgage brokering. At that time I was looking for a change. This one never even entered my mind. An accountant by trade, I wanted to find something outside of paper & numbers, but included people. Lesson learned; always investigate open doors. My financial experience instantly put me in a comfort zone. Living in the community for many years and coming from a large family gave me my initial referrals. I quickly adapted to the role. It was a good time to enter the industry as real estate was very active and our community was one of the fastest growing in the Country. I was named Rookie of the Year for Mortgage Centre Canada in 2005 and my client base has grown substantially. In the Spring of 2008 I joined TMG in Grande Prairie, Alberta and February of 2011 started my own team. My clients and referral sources followed.
The majority (90%) of my data base is repeat business and past client referrals. There is no better compliment when a past client continues to do business with you and then refers to you. You can never go wrong when you are providing positive solutions to people with their finances.
I was able to hire an assistant in the fall of 2009. She manages my data base, tracks my expenses and will be completing quarterly mails outs to my clients. I have learned that you have to look after your business and where it comes from. With the economy just healing from the recession and real estate activity down; refinances play an important role in the industry. Where do I get this business....by cultivating my data base and keeping in touch with my clients.
Rules that I practice:
- If you don't ask; you don't get.
- Don`t be afraid of the word `No`, just carry on.
- Answer your phone.
- Leave business cards & a bit of knowledge everywhere you go.
- Be patient.
- Concentrate on service & putting the client in a comfort zone.
- If it doesn't make you feel good, quit doing it.
- If it is sunny, go outside, you can work when its dark.
- Spend time with family & friends.

Never say never, always investigate open doors.
I have never looked back. Providing finance solutions and showing people how to benefit from the right mortgage is very gratifying. What you put into your efforts; will eventually pay off. If it is meant to be, it will be. What you leave out there eventually finds its way back. I am happy!
